Installer error: if you get 'Access denied'

Sun 11 Dec 11

When installing, you may experience the following message from the installer after you press Next and accept the License Agreement:
"An error occurred while trying to create a file in the destination diretory.

Access is denied."

This happens when your Windows user does not have the necessary permissions to install software. It is Windows behaviour that is preventing you from writing a file to your PC.

The solution is to either be logged on WITH the necessary permissions to install software, or alternatively be logged on as Administrator. Also, if, within Windows Explorer, you can locate the bf.exe install file that you downloaded, you can right-click on it and select 'Run as Administrator'. You may have to enter the Administrator password.

Editors note
I only found this out when I was installing BF on my kids PC!
